NHS dentists don’t want to be working in the NHS

More than three quarters (77%) of NHS dentists don’t see themselves working in the NHS in five years’ time. The latest Dentistry Confidence Monitor from Practice Plan found that of those that wanted to leave: 46% want to move to private dentistry 24% planned to retire early 20% were thinking of changing career 10% are taking planned retirement. ‘What seems overwhelmingly clear is that there is a real battle to strike the right balance between the demands of working in the NHS and delivering the quality of patient care that dentists want to,’ Nigel Jones sales and marketing director at Practice Plan, said. ‘This, among other factors, is taking its toll on the mental health of the profession. ‘It is resulting
